Build a LeoStick-powered "Book Monster"

After being inspired by a similar project found on the Internet, the people over at the tronixstuff website have created their own fun and simple project for the holidays - a "Book Monster". The purpose is to emulate the appearance of an imagined creature who lives in a book, and randomly appears to peek out for a glance of the outside world, before hiding back in the book... for example:

Although it may seem frivolous, it's a neat surprise for children and the library recipient has fun showing it to their younger patrons. To learn how to make your own, visit the project page. And for more, we're on twitter and Google+, so follow us for news and product updates as well.

So what is a LeoStick? It's the Arduino Leonardo-compatible board that's cheaper and smaller than the original:

Apart from being one of the smallest Arduino-compatibles on the market with USB, it also has an onboard RGB LED and piezo which can be used a knock sensor and various tune and sound effects. Plus you can add extra circuitry with the matching protostick! For more information and to order, click here.
