Remote IR temperature-sensing with Raspberry Pi

We're pleased to announce that our IRtemp infra-red temperature sensor module can now work neatly with the Raspberry Pi single board computers - thanks to Jeremy Bornstein. His code requires the wiringPi library, and at this point is not a library, just a simple code demonstration to get the temperature data out from the sensor to be used in other parts of your code - or for a simple demonstration.

It's great to see more hardware module options for the Raspberry Pi, and you can start with Jeremy's example code from his github page. And for more, we're on twitter and Google+, so follow us for news and product updates as well.

If you're looking for a contactless method of measuring temperature with your Raspberry Pi or Arduino, check out our Freetronics IRTEMP: module:

It's perfect for contactless temperature measurement. This is our special version of the industrial infrared remote thermometer units with an onboard power supply, communication support and a software library and examples supplied. Very simple to use with an Arduino as we have provided a Getting Started guide and Arduino library - and of course the Raspberry Pi code mentioned above. Hi I was wondering if you could provide me with a wiring diagram for this sensor to a raspberry pi 3 model b?
