Have fun and avoid snakebite with the Arduino "King Cobra" game

For something completely different and zany comes the "King Cobra" game by Instructables user "talldrinks". In a short period of time they've created this fun game that involves a simulation of a cobra snake with a treat in front of it - you need to grab the treat before the cobra strikes and bites you. In reality an Arduino-controlled servo moves a rod with a tack on the end, and an ultrasonic distance sensor which determines how close your hand is to the treat is used to decide the attack timing of the rod. More of a game for grown-up adults, and demonstrated in the following video:

That's either crazy or a lot of fun, either way learn how to make your own from the project page. And for more, we're on twitter and Google+, so follow us for news and product updates as well.

If you'd like to learn about Arduino - but not sure how to start - then the best way to learn is with our Experimenter's Kit for Arduino:

The package includes a wide variety of parts, sensors and modules including: a servo motor, lights, buttons, switches, sound, sensors, breadboard, wires and more. Furthermore a Freetronics Eleven Arduino-compatible board is included to make this an extensive hobby experimenter, inventor and starter kit.
