Volleyball scoreboard built with Arduino and Freetronics DMDs

We see many uses for our large LED dot matrix display boards, and we're really excited to see another outstanding project that makes use of these convenient units. Created by reddit user "LXL15", the scoreboard consists of three red DMD units to display the team names and scores, and is controlled by a hand-unit built around our LCD Keypad Shield

Furthermore the team names are stored on a memory card and can be selected from the hand unit, to allow easy scoreboard updates when the teams change. And as shown below, the final product looks good and is quite portable:

For more information and photos, check out the reddit discussion, and the sketch can be found here. And for more, we're on twitter and Google+, so follow us for news and product updates as well.

For the uninitiated, the Freetronics Dot Matrix Displays are simple to use, yet very bright for indoor and outdoor situations. Available in various colours, the 32 x 16 LED matrix can display text and graphics quite easily - and can be daisy-chained together for extended displays.
